This Dun Laoghaire Restaurants includes all of the best places to eat great food in the picturesque town located in South County Dublin, a short train, bus or car ride from Dublin City Centre.
There’s a delicious choice of excellent food and eateries from casual cafes to fine dining options for a special occasion, so there’s something for every taste and budget to be found around Dun Laoghaire. (Pronounced Dun Leary.)
All of these options are just a short walk from each other, so you could easily spend a day going from cafe to cafe, sampling all of the delights that Dun Laoghaire has to offer, while enjoying a day out in the fresh sea air with a walk along the spectacular sea front promenade.
Gourmet Cafe
A great spot for a full Irish Breakfast, sandwich or soup, Gourmet Cafe, located at 79 George’s Street Lower, delivers hearty food and friendly service.
My breakfast plate included eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomato, a hash brown and baked beans. You could also add white pudding and black pudding for a big breakfast.
Michie Sushi
As you’ll see, there’s a tasty choice of Chinese restaurants in Dun Laoghaire, with Michie Sushi undoubtedly being one of the best.
The menu includes plenty of vegetarian and even vegan options, like the above pictured lunch special of Yaki Udon Noodles with vegetables and miso soup.
There’s also a selection of temaki sushi, ngiri, maki rolls and sashimi of tuna, salmon, cucumber, avocado or tofu.
Leesun
Having traveled to Japan a number of times, and feeling nostalgic for the unique foods you find there, I was thrilled to find one of my favorite Japanese treats of fruit sandwiches right here in Dun Laoghaire at Leesun.
Their menu also includes fresh sushi, bao buns, rice bowls bubble tea and sweet Japanese treats.
Sunshine Cafe
At Sunshine Cafe you’ll be greeted with a menu including homemade pasta, artisan pizzas and sandwiches, homely soups and a divine, authentic Tiramisu.
Enjoy your meal in the cosy restaurant or in their secret garden located to the rear of the restaurant.
We found the pizza, creamy mushroom soup and chicken and mushroom pasta to all be fresh made and of exceptional quality.
Purty Kitchen
If you’re looking for a lovely pub to head to on a Friday evening, then a visit to The Purty Kitchen is a must.
You’ll find inventive spins on pub classics on the menu at this nice place that prides themselves on using high quality ingredients, served by a friendly team of people.
Mcloughlin’s Bar
At Mcloughlin’s Bar you can expect a great atmosphere where you can satisfy your taste buds with hearty pub grub.
Gourmet Food Parlour
A mouthwatering selection of delicious food is on offer at this restaurant with a relaxed dining experience. Try the Gourmet Food Parlour chicken wings, a plate of perfectly cooked Irish produce or simply a good coffee and sweet treat.
We visited for breakfast and I enjoyed their hearty and flavorful vegan big breakfast which included vegan sausages, Clonakilty pudding, a generous portion of beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast, all for a bargain 11 Euro. Each item arrived piping hot and perfectly cooked, which is often difficult to master when serving a big breakfast.
Casper & Giumbini’s
Head to one of my new favourite restaurants of Casper and Giumbini for a superb weekend brunch, lunch or dinner.
The gorgeous place serves up everything from a delectable French onion soup, flavorful burgers and steaks to unique pasta dishes. Here’s a look at their lunch menu at the time I visited.
I went for the lamb ravioli which consisted of pillowy soft ravioli that were filled with a generous portion of meltingly tender lamb, all served in a meaty broth and topped with crisp and crunchy onions.
It was seriously one of the best meals I’ve had out in ages and I can’t wait to head back to try more menu items.
Delhi Rasoi Indian Restaurant
The seaside town is host to Delhi Rasoi Indian Restaurant where you can expect good food, with a great variety of Indian cuisine on their full menu, and a great night with excellent staff
Haddington House
Oliveto Restaurant at Haddington House boasts sea views of Dublin Bay and an elegant dining experience with a menu featuring fresh, local, in season produce.
Royal Marine Hotel
At the grand Royal Marine Hotel you’ll find a number of restaurants offering all kinds of good things from a sumptuous breakfast, light lunch, dinner, cocktails or an indulgent afternoon tea.
Toscana
For one of the best restaurants with sea views, head to Toscana restaurant Dun Laoghaire where you’ll find authentic Italian food at this popular Italian Restaurant with an excellent main menu.
Zero Zero Pizza
The perfect place to enjoy the best pizza when you’re in the Dun Laoghaire area is popular Zero Zero Pizza. You can expect fantastic food served in a relaxed atmosphere by friendly staff.
Lighthouse
The Lighthouse is the ideal spot for burgers and their weekend brunch special, available Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 5pm, has an appealing chicken and waffles item that’s on my must try ASAP list.
Rasam
Rasam is a fine dining Indian restaurant serving up exquisite plates of authentic Indian cuisine.
Teddys Ice Cream
Dun Laoghaire is the perfect spot to enjoy an indulgent ice cream, and iconic Teddy’s is the place to go for a choice of creamy treats, including Teddys Traditional 99.
LE CHOCOLAT DE FRÈD
At Le Chocolat De Frèd, you can expect arguably one of the best hot chocolates in Dublin.
Luxurious Belgian Chocolate is melted into a warming, decadent drink that I savored every single indulgent sip of.
I went for their classic hot chocolate, but you can also choose from a hazelnut or vegan hot chocolate or one topped with whipped cream, marshmallows, a whole host of unique flavorings and even chocolate shavings.
You can also choose from a delectable range of sweet treats including pastries, waffles and crepes to enjoy with your hot chocolate.
Sunday Market
If you’re in Dun Laoghaire on a Sunday, then head to the Sunday Market at the People’s Park where you’ll discover a foodie paradise with a wide selection of food stalls and fresh produce to choose from.
