Best Belfast Restaurants
This collection of best places to eat in Belfast is my experience after a few visits to the foodie city.
There’s always something new and tasty to discover around the city centre across a range of cuisines featuring local ingredients and at varying price points to choose from.
Breakfast in Belfast
Starting with breakfast, if it’s your first visit to Northern Ireland, then you just have to try a big breakfast or Ulster Fry as it’s known.
An Ulster Fry usually includes bacon, sausage, an egg or two, black pudding, potato bread and often soda bread too. There’s usually a vegetable or two included like the baked beans, mushrooms and tomato on the above breakfast plate.
Needless to say, an Ulster Fry will easily keep you full until lunch, fueling you to walk around and explore all that the vibrant city has to offer.
The above pictured bumper fry is from Maggie Mays Belfast, where you’ll find a selection of breakfast offerings all at affordable prices.

You could also simply stop in any any coffee shop in the city and grab a much needed caffeine hit and pastry for a breakfast on the run.
A favorite spot of ours for an indulgent (and pricey) breakfast is the Grand Cafe which is located in the Grand Central Hotel in the very heart of Belfast near the town square and city hall.
I can’t resist the flavorful Croque Monsier while my smoked salmon loving family usually go for scrambled or poached eggs with smoked salmon.
Here are some of the best places to choose from for breakfast in Belfast city centre, just double check opening hours as some cafes only offer breakfast/brunch over the weekend.
Best Places To Eat Lunch In Belfast
If you visit Belfast on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, then a great place to head to is the St. George’s Market for a mouth watering way to sample local products from one of the many stalls or the restaurant above the market, with views over the hustle and bustle.
Many of Belfast’s restaurants (listed in the dinner section below) open for lunch and offer lunch specials, so if you’re on a budget you can dine at a top restaurant at a more affordable price than you would at dinner time and still be able to enjoy traditional Irish dishes made from fresh local produce.

Pizza Punks – we experienced the best pizza we’ve had in Ireland. (If not the world!) The care and quality is clear in every bite at this great spot.
The pizzas are made using a sourdough starter that’s proofed for 48 hours, creating a truly unique flavored pizza.

The rib of beef was perfectly tender and full of flavor. We also sampled the mouth watering burgers which are grilled over hot ash.
